Set Mo ‘Surrender' Album Launch
Described by i-D magazine as “Australia’s most optimistic band… they love what they do and it shows,” Set Mo is an electronic dance duo from Sydney and one of Australia’s hottest artists right now.
On 1st February 2019 Set Mo released their debut album ‘Surrender’ through their own independent label Set Mo Records hitting #1 on the iTunes AUS/NZ Electronic album chart.
The Brief
Tropicool were engaged by Set Mo’s management team at the end of December 2018 to help create a marketing strategy and awareness campaign for the release of their debut record ‘Surrender’ – on sale, February 1.

The Idea
Venue
We chose the Paramount Recreation Club for its Californian lineage of garden beds of blue desert planting, sky-blue terrazzo floors and large modernist parasols. The stunning outdoor rooftop design matched Set Mo’s own chic style and values and located in the heart of Surry Hills location, it easily accessible by all public transport.
Entertainment
We wanted the event to have high impact from the moment you walked out of the lift, right up until the closing moments at the end. The first hour allowed for guests to mingle and Set Mo to work the room whilst attendees enjoyed a lavish grazing table, complimentary cocktails and beers. Leading Australian comedian and former triple j presenter Matt Okine then hosted an insightful and hilarious ‘In Conversation’ with Set Mo before all guests were moved inside for the exclusive first playback of ‘Surrender’ and more cocktails! A 2.4m x 2.4m media wall was featured for photo opportunities with fans and Set Mo rounded out this special evening with an intimate DJ set to a packed room.
Food & Beverage
A bespoke drinks menu was created including the ‘Set Mo Spritz’ – a signature Belvedere Vodka cocktail featuring yuzu puree, cloudy apple juice, lemon juice, elderflower cordial and soda plus a couple of Balter beer options were provided. We supplied a very large grazing tables with a mixture of different cured meats, cheeses, dips, crudités, olives, grapes, bread, dried fruits and nuts.

Branded Content
Tropicool’s creative team covered the event, producing an exclusive short film for Belvedere Vodka and an official photo gallery, uploaded to Facebook and available to the media the day after the event. Zanerobe created two exclusive video pieces, the first a behind the scenes interview with Set Mo and the second a wrap video. These videos were promoted through Zanerobe’s website, newsletter and social pages. Set Mo recorded a mix for Bailey Nelson’s DJ series on Soundcloud, and shared through their website and newsletter. yeahsure produced the official event wrap video, as uploaded by Set Mo and Life Without Andy covered the event with an exclusive photo gallery across their website, newsletter and socials.
